Canal narrow boat “Harlequin” makes a tight turn as it passes Finsley Gate wharf on the Leeds and Liverpool canal in Burnley

Cw 6776 nb Harlequin passes Finsley Gate wharf As part of the winter 2018 -19 maintenance programme the Canal and River Trust relined part of the Leeds and Liverpool in Burnley. Following removal of a considerable amount of built up silt, relining of the canal and rebuilding of towpath walls between bridges 130B and 130B in Burnley the Leeds and Liverpool canal was reopened to navigation on Monday the 17th of June 2019 and a couple of days later the narrow boat “Harlequin” passes Finsley Gate Wharf as the clear up of the contractors materials continue. The pile of stones on the wharf had been used to dam the canal to allow it to be drained for the works.
