PHILIPPINE SEA (March 14, 2018) A Phalanx close-in weapons system (CWIS) aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) and USS Ashland (LSD 48) weapons simultaneously fire at moving targets during a live-fire gunnery exercise. Navy warships train together to increase the tactical proficiency, lethality, and interoperability of participating units in an Era of Great Power Competition.
