About the time of Pliny two small wheels (rotae,rotulae) were added to the plough in Rhaetia ; andServius (I. c.) mentions the use of them in thecountry of Virgil. The annexed woodcut showsthe form of a wheel-plough, as represented on apiece of engraved jasper, of Roman also shows distinctly the temo or pole, thecoulter or culter, the dentate or share-beam, theburis or plough-tail, and the handle or (Caylus, Bee. dAnt. v. pi. 83.
