Clarence Chesterfield Howerton (February 9, 1913 - November 18, 1975), AKA Major Mite, was an American circus performer. His career began at a young age, when his father entered him into a local vaudeville show. In 1923, he joined the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, where he starred as a major attraction. He was 2 feet 4 inches tall and billed as the smallest man in the world.
