Plumage on the forehead and crown is brown black spotted with buff black stripe starting behind the eye Black lower back rump and uppertail coverts upperparts are black and white with white arrow shaped markings The sound from this bird is a three part call starting with a click then a pop followed by a deep drawn out boom when giving this boom call the bird inflates its neck and from the rear shows a distinct v pattern looking very much like the markings on a Cobra s hood Prefers drier more open country and is often found around burned ground and cultivation
