Oral candidiasis
A photograph of oral candidiasis, an infection of the mucous membranes of the mouth by a fungus of the genus candida, commonly called oral thrush. The cause is commonly candida albicans. It affects moist surfaces around the lips, inside the cheeks, and on the tongue and palate. Thrush is common in people with drugs or diseases that suppress the immune system, such as cancer and AIDS.
