A silver-inlaid Polish karabela, circa 1700, Sturdy, single-edged blade with wider double-edged point, fine gold and silver damascened root. Iron quillons with ornamental silver inlays on both sides. The brass mounted hilt with horn grips and domed studs (one missing). Shagreen leather covered wood scabbard with suspension bars decorated en suite with silver inlays and iron chape. The seam at the spine of the scabbard split open, the locket with small loss. Length 101 cm.
