TheTransformation of Jupiter is one of eight tapestries designed forBeauvais (see Chapter XV) by Jean Baptiste Oudry, the famous artdirector of Beauvais and later of the Gobelins, to whose efficiency wasdue the extraordinary prosperity of the Beauvais works in the secondquarter of the eighteenth century, and consequently of the Aubussonworks that copied Beauvais models.
