Jade pebble with Bodhidharma crossing a mountain stream on an animal, Qing dynasty, probably Kangxi, China, 1662-1772. A jade pebble of whitish tone with brown inclusions with predominantly black markings down one edge. The scene depicts Bodhidharma crossing a stream on an animal under a rocky overhang with bodhi tree above and wavelets round the lower half. The reverse has pine trees. The whole piece is deeply and well carved.
