5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Mar. 29, 2017) -Ensign Brett Hayes measures the distance between ships aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) during a replenishment-at-sea with the Military Sealift Command's fleet replenishment oiler USNS Kanawha (T-AO 196). Laboon is in the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
