Wagner, in which abundantmaterial for studying this particular branch canbe found ; for instance, the wonderful Introduc-tion (Vorspiel) to Lohengrin, the overture to Tannhiiuser, etc. The Tremolo adapts itselfexceedingly well to all kinds of situations, butshould not be used to excess. A fine example ofthis kind is found in the ist Act of Lohengrin, where in one particular instance the tremolo ofthe strings together with the Harp, the Flutes,Oboes, English Horn, Bass Clarinet and Trum-pets produces a beautifully clear effect. An-other variety of tremolo, the effect of which iseven more striking than in the above namedexample, will be found in the 3d Act of Tristanand Isolde, as well as in the overture to Tann-hauser by R. Wagner. EXTRACT FROM THE TANNHAUSER ggfe^y^fi^^-^-
