Screen the top soil, which should con- tain plenty of leaf-mold, and make an even surface. After the seeds are sown and watered, shade with lath shades or cheesecloth to prevent drying out. Use a watering can and not the hose on the seedlings while they are small, and, protect them from drenching rains. The more robust kinds could go out into nursery rows, but the majority will be much better if you carry them O'rer in frames, covering them with dry leaves when they are frozen, and plac- ing sashes over them.
