Ball and socket joints are used to connect thefeet to the spokes so that they may rest on any conformation theymay encounter. This machme has shown a remarkable abilityto pass over obstacles and rough roads, and even to climb roadlesshills. It gives a maximum of adhesion of the drivers, and it isclaimed that it will pass over rough roads with the expenditureof less energy than will an ordinary wheeled traction engine.
