The Val d'Ayas is an alpine valley located in the Aosta Valley, located at the foot of the Monte Rosa massif. The Val d'Ayas name is modern, used mainly following the birth of mountaineering, when the territory of Ayas, at the top of the valley, then became a center of attraction in this sense. The previous cartography uses the name Val Challant or Val de Challant-Ayas. The Val d'Ayas is a side valley of the Valle d'Aosta, located on the orographic left of the Dora Baltea.
