Capture of Joan of Arc, Compiegne, France, 1430 (1864). Joan (1412-1431), the Maid of Orleans, captured by the Burgundians while defending Compiegne during the Hundred Years War. She was then sold to the English. Prior to her capture she led several successful operations against the English inspired by visions and prophecies.
