Thebulbs of Leucoiimi vernum, of the Snowdropand Daffodil, have for ages been Imown asemetic ; and it has recently been shown byLoiselem- Deslongchamps that a snnilarpower exists in Narcissus Tazetta, odorusand Poeticus, and in Pancratium Fig. cv. Fig. CV.—Littaea geminiflora. Narcissales.] The flowers of NarcissusPseudo-Narcissus are not onlyemetic, but a dangerous poison,occasionally producing seriousconsequences in infants whichare allowed to swallow CandoUe considers the prin-ciple found in Amaryllids ana-logous to that of the Squill(Essai, p. 290).
