British Forces in the Middle East, 1945-1947 Studying the layout of a switchboard on an electricians course is Sergeant L W Murray (right) a peacetime carpenter and joiner. He is being instructed by Sergeant H F Jones an electrical engineer in civilian life. This was one of the pre-vocational courses on offer at the Middle East Base Depot of the Royal Artillery near Cairo to prepare soldiers awaiting demobilisation for a return to 'civvy street'.
