He lived for some years with relatives in Royalton, Vt., and later attendedan academy in Ballston, N. Y. He was a student for a time in the Academyin Norwich in 1824; received the degree of LL. D. from N.^U. in 1846. In 1821, he became a Presbj^terian and in June, 1826, he became a Uni-versalist clergyman;
