It was the treaties of August 3and November 9, 1795, with the Western tribes and theSix Nations respectively that gave permanent peace,and from that time this part of the state began to improverapidly. The last raid made by the Indians within thepresent limits of Crawford County was on June 3, Findlay and Barnabas McCormick were engagedmaking rails, about six miles so
