This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Tharsis Tholis volcano, Mars Express colour-coded elevation model. Tharsis Tholis towers 8 kilometres above the surrounding terrain with a base that stretches 155 by 125 kilometres and a central caldera measuring 32 by 34 kilometres. The Digital Terrain Model (DTM) colour codes elevations: purple (lowest) through blue, green, yellow and red to white (highest). Data obtained by the High-Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on Mars Express. The European Space Agency's Mars Express has been orbiting Mars since December 2003. Image published in 2011.
