Rotigotine, computer model. This drug, marketed as Neupro, is used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder caused by the loss of cells in the brain that produce dopamine, a neurotransmitter necessary for normal motor function. Rotigotine can activate dopamine receptors, mimicking the effect of the neurotransmitter. Atoms in this model are represented by spheres; carbon is green, hydrogen is white, oxygen is red, nitrogen is blue, and sulphur is yellow.
