Curious and interesting when planted as an isolated specimen in the mixed border in a warm sunny position in rich soil. The flower resembles a gigantic black Calla and appears before the leaves on stems rising from 2 to 3 feet high. The flower is soon followed by interesting, massive, tropical-looking foliage which is supported on thick prettily-marbled stems. Not hardy. Strong bulbs, $ each. Frilled Tuberous-Rooted Begonia Dreer's Superb Tuberous-Rooted Begonias This charming class of Begonias is perhaps the most handsome of all the summer-flowering tuberous-rooted plants and deserves even greater popularity than it has received during recent years. The improvements made within the last decade in size, texture, and coloring are phenomenal. It is not unusual for the flowers to measure 4 to 6 inches across. They are principally useful for planting in semi-shaded porch or window boxes. Also fine in outdoor beds located in a partially shaded place where they will bloom continuously.
