Fossil of a trilobite with legs found in Bundenbach, Germany, dating from 390 million years ago. Trilobites were a diverse group of extinct marine arthropods that first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) evolving rapidly during the Cambrian Explosion and lived through the Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Carboniferous and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago).
