Believing the City Directory to be an indispensible annual publication with our mer-chants, manufacturers and citizens generally, we have notwithstanding the sad and deplorablecondition of the country, entered upon and completed the duties, as heretofore, promptlyduring the month of May. The canvassing for the general information has been done as usual by our former agents,whose experience and faithful attention to their labors has enabled them to find a large increaseof names over those of last year, showing conclusively that the work has been done in athorough and satisfactory manner.
