Crystals of spessartine on a substrate of galenite. Spessartine (also called spessartite) is a manganese aluminium neosilicate mineral belonging to the garnet group of minerals. In this specimen, from Broken Hill Australia, the crystals are interspersed on a substrate of galenite. The height of the specimen is 130 millimetres.
