Thames Royal Yacht Club Race 1842 - A portrait of William Meekiff who was favourite to win Doggetts Coat & Badge , but failed . He represented Horseferry, Westminster but lost first place to James Liddy rowing for Wandsworth. Doggett's Coat and Badge is the prize and name for the oldest rowing race in the world. Competitors include up to six apprentice watermen of the River Thames in England who compete for the prestigious honour. It has been held every year since 1715
