They are quite wqUfeathered, and as a class average better in general Cochincharacteristics than the other varieties; the chief difficultyis the tendency of the males to turn yellow in color. Thisfault can be bred out of them by using as breeders birds hav-ing a perfectly white shaft In their feathers. This mayhave a tendency to whiten the color of leg and beak, butbetter this fault than yellow plumage. It is said by experts that the purest white specimens. THE BANTAM 29. In many cases the White andBlack specimens far excel theBuffs in true Oochin , like all but the Buffs, camefromacross with their larger cous-ins, and carry tlie Cochin shape,none but the Buffs having sufferedin shape and feather by the cross with Nankin and WhiteBooted Bantams.
