Yasser Sheikh Yusef, a Syrian national from Latakia, is the last leader of the Al-Qaeda organisation in Syria. He had been designated the Emir of the Syrian coast, and then appointed Emir of the Al-Qaeda organisation in Syria. He was arrested by the Syrian security forces in 2007 while being the leader of Al-Qaeda organization in Syria. He died in the prisons of the Syrian regime. His photo has been released for the first time in the book by journalist and filmmaker Medyan Dairieh entitled “Syria: Al-Qaeda’s New Home - Biography of Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi”.
