Brain haemorrhage. Computed tomography (CT) scan of a 45 year old man's brain (from above). This patient was injured in a road traffic accident. There is severe extradural haemorrhage (bleeding between the skull and the brain's protective layer of tissue, the dura mater) on the left side, in pink. Some blood has spread between the skull and the scalp (blue). Without urgent treatment, the bleed will put pressure on the brain and cause irreversible brain damage.
