This is a Maasai elder Chief at the annual gathering of Maasai tribal people in the Rift Valley not far from the small town of Narok, when young Maasai Moran so-called warriors parade and dance at one of the villages in the hope of attraction some young girls as a prospective wife. The spear is purely ceremonial as is his head-dress of Ostrich feathers. It also provides opportunity for the womenfolk to display and hopefully sell some of their distinctive art work. The Maasai ancestral home is the Rift Valley that forms the famous Maasai Mara National Park and Game Reserve.
