Toward the end of the experiment, as representedin Table 12, the difference in the gains of the two lots is especiallyapparent, the lambs in lot II excelling the others to a markeddegree. This was due, perhaps, largely to a stagnation of theappetite of those fed on the dry ration. It was with the greatestdifficulty that they were made to eat up all of their ration. Infact, with one sheep in lot I epsom salts had to be used to correctcostiveness. Those given turnips, however, eagerly sought andwould have eaten more. Had their full appetite been appeased, they doubtless would have made even larger gains and with asgreat economv. Jan., 1911] FEEDING SHEEP AND LAM US. 17.
