In considering the future of Palestine in 1947, the UNSCOP (The United Nations Special Committee on Palestine) majority proposal was for a two-state solution as outlined in this important map, including a Jewish State and a separate Arab State. The ensuing civil war, the declaration of independence of the State of Israel, and the 1948 Arab-Israel war changed the facts on the ground, and the plan was never implemented, although a possible two state solution continues to be conjectured to this day.
