It was overshadowed by alittle canopy of leaves, and was heldin place not only by its lashings ofcobwebs, but by a drooping filamentfrom a loftier branch. In eastern Oregon Bendire foundthese birds nesting extensively inthe pine trees. The nests were usu-ally settled upon a cluster of pine cones, and so closely simulated their surroundings that detection would havebeen impossible save for the visits of their owners.
