The following summary presents the results of the examinations of Food and Drugs by the State Boardof Health in the month of April, 1902: —. Percentage of adulteration, The actual ratio of adulteration is very much less than this, since it is onlysuspicious articles of food to which the attention of the Board is directed. Certain staple products, such as sugar, flour, and the various other cereal products, are very rarely adulterated, and require but little inspection. The workof the Board is therefore mainly devoted to the inspection of such articles as it has found, by several yearsof experience, to be especially liable to adulteration. The ratio of samples of milk found to be below the standard was per cent., while the percentageof articles of food was per cent. Nine complaints were entered in the courts during the month for violation of the laws relative to the inspectionof food and drugs, as shown in the Record of prosecutions accompanying.
