DETROIT, MICH. The Maxket. The supply of stock is going ahead of business and many stores are having special sales these days. The flower- buying public is coming back again, slowly but surely, and it seems good to the retailer to have bargains to of- fer. Funeral work has dropped off a little and what stock is moved has to be pushed by window displays and special sales. Boses are in oversupply, due more to the falling off in their sale than to the increased cut. Premier and Eussell lead in quality, but Ophelia, in large supply, is outselling all others. Columbia ar- rives too much in bloom and, conse- quently, is inclined to stock up the market. Ward, Bon Silene and Sweet- heart are in large supply. Carnations are bein^ cut in large quantities; the quality is good, but the reduced prices fail to clear the market, except in the case of Mrs. C. W. Ward and Philadelphia. Sweet peas and vio- lets are also in large supply, but they can be readily moved by those stores that have special sales. Calla lilies are arriving in increasing quantities; there are always several tubs standing around waiting for the buyer. Calendulas, snapdragons, wall- flowers, bouvardias and buddleias are plentiful. Jonquils, tulips and narcissi are short in supply. Pot plants are plentiful and are easily disposed of. Various Notes.
