'Arranging for Masséna's Capitulation at Cornigliano, Near Genoa', 1896. In 1800, the French general André Masséna was besieged at Genoa in Italy by the Austrians. Masséna's negotiator finally agreed to evacuate the French army, however if the word capitulation was mentioned or written, Masséna threatened to end all negotiations.
