Increasingly popular abseil for charity here from 110 metres down the 170 metre Spinnaker Tower by two women in tandem
The tower is owned by Portsmouth City Council and operated on it's behalf by Continuum Leading Attractions of York, England. The Council raises its own funds alongside those of Charities by inviting charitable abseils as well as paying 'thrill seekers'. The abseil featured in these images raised money for Queen Alexandra's Hospital Home for ex-military service people. From July 2015 the tower will be painted red and white and re-named Emirates Splinnaker Tower. The photographic reproduction of this work is covered under United Kingdom law (Section 62 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988), which states that it is not an infringement to take photographs of buildings, or of sculptures, models for buildings, or works of artistic craftsmanship permanently located in a public place or in premises open to the public.
