The Control Gate at The Projected Dyke Tønder Denmark The Projected Dyke 12 km long and 7 5 meter high and 150 meter broad was built after the 1976 storm flood and was finalized in 1981 The dyke was a joined German and Danish project with the intention of strengthen the much longer Inner Dyke This Weest Coast part of Denmark and Germany is a traditional storm flood area often stricken by devestating catastrophies In 1634 a 5 meter deep flooding killed more than 10 000 people and 50 000 livestock and swept away houses and farms During ht elast 100 years the marsh land people experienced several floodings Year 1923 4 65 meters above sea level year 1976 4 92 meters year 1981 5 01 meters Year 1999 5 12 meters The concrete building on the right side is the control gatee
