On Jan Mayen, a remote island in the Arctic Ocean, many of the beaches are littered with timber from Siberian logging camps. The logs are floated downstream, and some of them get lost, ending up in the pack-ice of the Arctic Circle. The ice turns slowly, and deposits the logs in the East Greenland Current which then carries them onto beaches on Jan Mayen.
