QUEEN STREET 1. 1594 (East Side) No 8 SU 1429 NE 4/331 1I* GV 2. Originally built 1425 and knoim as John a Port's House. Restored 1950. 3 storey. Timber frame with plaster infilling. Double gabled front of oversailing 2nd floor, which had original braced timber work. A good deal of replacement has taken place in lower part of front. Old tile roof. 3-light leaded casement in each gable. 5-light casement (modern) and 8-light mullioned and transomed (original frame) to right hand on 1st floor. Plain C19 shop front ground floor 2 2-light windows, central glazed door, and 6 panel house door to left under common fascia. Interior: one room has C16 panelling pilasters and frieze with abstract arabesques. Fireplace with 2 allegorical figures and primitive relief of the Sacrifice of Isaac in overmantel. Late C18 staircase.
