A species of Jceropsis, heretofore undescribed, was collected bythe U. S. Bureau of Fisheries steamer Albatrossduring its cruise off the east coast of Patagoniain 1888. The list of species in this genus nowincludes Jceropsis brevicornis Kcehler,0 /. mari-onis Beddard,& curvicornis0 (Nicolet),d ?/.lobata Richardson,6 dollfusi Norman/ •/.rathbunce(J Richardson, and the present species. JZEROPSIS PATAGONIENSIS, new species. Body oblong-ovate, about two and two-thirdstimes as long as wide. The lateral parts of thethoracic segments are yellow. Most of the headand most of the abdomen as well as the middleof the dorsal region of the thorax is coloredreddish brown. The head is wider than long and has the post-lateral angles rounded, the antero-lateral anglesacute. The anterior margin is produced on eitherside of the median line
