Salol cooling rapidly to form crystals. Small quantity of salol (phenyl salicylate) placed on a slide to demonstrate how it forms small crystals when cooled rapidly from a liquid state. When salol is cooled slowly, large crystals are formed. This demonstration is used to show how cooling rates of liquids affect crystal size.
