The seed should be sown during September and October, or early spring as soon as the ice has disappeared. Sow broadcast in water from 6 inches to 6 feet deep, with a mud bottom. Previous to sowing, sink the seed in bags in water over night to soak it thoroughly, so it will sink to the bottom at once, thereby preventing loss from drifting into deep water, or washing ashore.
