EWING & GO'S SEED CATALOGUE. 37 Q 1*3 SSQS —Continued. has not always been exercised in selecting the best and cleanest seed. There are sections where it is almost im- possible to persuade buyers to buy the best quailty— cheap seed, and that only, is wanted—forgetting that the differ- ence in cost between seeding with really clean seed, and inferior stuff, only amounts to a few cents per acre ! Poor seed is dear at any price, and it is the worst sort of extra- vagance to sow it. For our part we will not knowingly sell a Farmer anything but the best quality roe can procure, believing this is as much in our own interest as in that of the Farmer. Farmers to whom it is inconvenient to deal direct with us, should ask their storekeepers for Ewing's re-cleaned Grass and other Seeds, and be sure that they get them. TIMOTHY—(Phleum pratensc.)—10c. per lb.; quotations per bushel on application. Scarce and high. Unhulled Timothy Seed, such as is produced in the Pro- vince of Quebec, we handle largely, as well as the best grades procurable in Ontario and the United States. With our improved machinery for cleaning and grading, we are in a position to offer samples of the very finest quality. KENTUCKY BLUE GRASS—(Poa pratensis)—15c. per lb. A fine pasture grass, which thrives best on dry gravel- ly soil. Yields a large quantity of herbage very early in the season; its extreme earliness and the close sod it forms makes it very valuable in permanent pastures, or lawns. CANADA BLUE GRASS—(Poa comprcssa)—Resembles the preceding, excepting that the stem hardly grows so strong. One of the best varieties for lawns; makes an ex- cellent pasture; most suitable for high dry land. 10c. per lb. RED TOP—(Agrostis vulgaris)— per lb.
