Michael Heidelberger (1888-1991), US immunologist. Heidelberger carried out fundamental research in immunology, showing that antibodies are proteins. Most of his career (from 1928 onwards) was spent at Columbia University, New York, USA. The numerous awards he received included two Lasker Awards in 1953 and 1978, as well as the National Medal of Science in 1968. Autographed photograph from 1950.
