Zinfandel grape in a hopper being emptied into the grape crusher at the Milliaire Winery

Harvest of Zinfandel grapes from the Ghirardelli vineyard near Burson in Calaveras County, Northern California. This zinfandel vineyard is the oldest in the county. Grapes are dry farmed. No irrigation or frost protection. Trained without trellissing, the vines are left to grow into small trees. The Milliaire WInery uses these rare grapes - this is a hopper full of grapes being emptied into the crusher.
