At each endof the tracker bar are the two overlapping holesor ducts which operate the pneumatic trackershifter. As I propose later to deal specially withtracker shifting devices, here and now I contentmyself with the remark that when tracing theseholes we find that the four tubes lead us to adouble pneumatic and chest on the left of thespool box, and that it is necessary to unscrew thecap held by three or four screws where these tubesenter the chest. Clear the dust from the sievesbeneath, at the same time blowing the dust fromthe tracker bar out of the tubes each time theinstrument is tuned. (I may mention, in passing, that dust should always be blown from the trackerbar when air channels are enclosed, the reasonbeing obvious, — , to clear from a smallerentrance to a larger exit. Blowing towards the THE PNEUMATIC PLAYER. The Triumphodist. tracker bar is liable to pack the dust or fibrousmatter in the small ducts.) The two narrow ducts are for accenting bassand treble. The large square duct at bass end isthe automatic damper. The primary valves areeasily accessible after removing the step, heldin place by about thirty-eight screws. Thesecondary valves are immediately beneath andtheir pouch board is about five inches wideheld by about twenty-eight screws. The loudlever is purely mechanical and lifts the damperrod by wires and levers. The soft bass andtreble buttons admit air, when pressed, topouches in two small chests at bass andtreble sides of the piano. These operate valvesand collapse two pneumatics, which lift the ham-mers to the half blow. The whole mechanism is THE TRIUMPH-AUTO
