Innisfallen Greenhouse, Springfield, Ohio. 7. THE ROSE is the "Queen of ; No garden, however small, is complete without Roses. There are no flowers grown that are more universally admired, than the Rose, and their cultivation is yearly extending, as it becomes more generally known that they are so easily grown, and that they can be procured at so trifling an expense. All that is necessary to have them grow and bloom freely is to plant them in a bed of deep, fresh, loamy soil, well enriched with thoroughly rotted manure, and they are certain to do as well as a bed of Geraniums. The Roses we offer are all grown on their own roots. The plants we send out by mail are strong, in 2% pots, six to eight inches high, many of them in bud and bloom when sen% out, and with ordinary care will bloom the first season. The Ever-Blooming or Monthly Roses are not hardy in the North, al- though if pinned to the ground and covered with leaves, straw, evergreen boughs, etc., they will usually come out all right in the Spring ready to produce an abundance of flowers again. If you want perfectly hardy Roses that will withstand the severe Winters in the North, order Hybrid Per- petuals, Climbers,Mosses, etc. The following list will be found to contain the leading Standard varie- ties. "We have not the room nor desire to offer a long list of varieties that tends to confuse the pur- chaser. Where so many varieties are off ered, some must of necessity be too near alike or of inferior quality. We believe it is better to grow only the most distinct and desir- able varieties; such as we know to be satisfastory. , , . , * Souv. de President Carnot. THREE • NEW * HARDY . EVER=BLOOMING .
