Marie-Louise is the nickname given to the 120,000 French recruits of 1814 and 1815 convened by the Senatus-Consult on October 9, 1813 of the regent Empress Marie-Louise. The "Marie-Louise decree" designated these young recruits by extension. They were novices in the art of war, but they were surrounded by veterans of the Grand Army. The Emperor of the French obtained with them the victories of Champaubert and Montmirail. History of France, old engraved illustration image from the book Histoire contemporaine par l'image 1872
