The vane on Minster Gatehouse depicts a legend about knight Sir Robert De Shurland, who met a witch who foretold his trusty horse Grey Dolphin would be the death of him. So he killed the horse and three years later came across the remains of the skull on the beach, which he kicked causing an infection leading to his death as prophesised.
